CCIE Webinar: Financial Aid and Study Abroad

The meeting focused on the importance of financial aid for study abroad programs, with panelists sharing their experiences and best practices from different institutions. The discussions covered topics such as managing financial aid, the use of scholarships, and the impact of federal policies on financial aid. The meeting also touched on the role of financial aid advisors in study abroad programs and the potential use of VA benefits for study abroad.

Updates from Connecting the World at NAFSA

Switching gears, we have recently learned that recipients of State Department grant funding have been informed of a 15-day temporary pause on all disbursements. Our understanding is that the pause is effective as of February 12, 2025, and applies to all current and future grant payments scheduled during this period.

This sweeping pause affects time-tested and essential international education and exchange programs including the Fulbright Program, the Gilman Scholarship program, the IDEAS program, and the Critical Language Scholarship Program.

DONALD R. CULTON STUDY ABROAD SCHOLARSHIPS: 2025

Summer Applications DUE: April 1, 2025 by 5:00 pm/Pacific

Dr. Donald R. Culton was the first-full-time administrator for international education at a California community college and laid the groundwork for community college study abroad that expanded opportunities for more students to have an internationalized experience.

AMOUNT: Each scholarship will be up to $ 500. The number of awards and amount of awards will be determined by the CCIE scholarship committee. Please note that only colleges current with their dues can apply.

CCIE INSTITUTIONAL GRANT COMPETITION

CCIE hosts two institutional grants annually. The purpose of the grant is to provide start-up funding for institutions wanting to either create a new international program or augment an existing international program.
