I (Alex) was fortunate to spend a six-week study abroad trip to Japan this summer. For the first two weeks, I attended lecture classes for business, while for the rest of the four weeks, I interned at an international school called “Growing Tree”. Within these six weeks, I was privileged enough to tour a Japanese college, stay with a Japanese family for the weekend, travel to Disneyland, Universal, and Team Labs, and go sightseeing during my spare time. The 500 dollars that was granted to me went to all these expenses.

During the first two weeks of my stay, I attended lecture courses on global business. The professor was a native-born in Japan and had operated in the business world in Japan and the U.S. Her experience brought the class to life.

It is almost that time again. In a little over a month we will, hopefully, all be attending this year’s conference at beautiful Glendale College, on Saturday, October, 10/19/24, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Studying or working abroad can be an exciting and transforming experience, opening your eyes to new languages, foods, music, art, landscapes and architecture. It also places you in daily contact with people who experience and react to life in ways different from those to which you are likely accustomed. You will be experiencing new customs in a new culture and all the wonderful and mysterious intricacies that go along with it, something that is often simultaneously thrilling and daunting.

The Institute of Study Abroad Ireland has shared some opportunities for your college or university that may be of interest- they offer two full online courses, completely free to use, as content, as an element of an existing course, as a new course, as a global studies course, or as an elective / personal enrichment course.
