FPP EDU Media is a family owned company from Brazil which was founded 20 years ago in Sao Paulo. Our organization specializes in assisting education providers with recruiting international students from around the world through our tours, expos, virtual fairs and digital solutions. This year we have been invited to serve as a sponsor for California Colleges for International Education (CCIE). Through several conversations with Rosalind and members of this consortium, we learned that we may be able to leverage our resources to help your member schools further expand and diversify their international student enrollments.

International students often face unique challenges to success while studying in the United States. Understanding those challenges and helping international students overcome them is key for higher education institutions that want to recruit and retain top international students.

GLOBAL STUDENT MOBILITY (GSM) UPDATES

GSM announces a www.glosmo.com that is in English and Vietnamese and will soon be in Thai, Khmer (Cambodia) and Burmese (Myanmar) languages. CCIE member colleges that join the website will have their educator profiles translated into these languages. Registration for the portal is at http://gsm-uk.co.uk/8327-2/.

CANIE ANNUAL MEETING RESCHEDULED

As CANIE has grown significantly in the last year, this is an exciting opportunity for us to reach out to the CANIE membership (if you have a CANIE account on the website, that makes you a member!) and remind you that your voice matters and the AGM is an exciting opportunity for you to hear from the CANIE Leadership and vote on any motions that will be put forward.

CAINE ACCORD AND AIFS

AIFS is first study abroad provider from the United States to sign the CANIE Accord.
CANIE (Climate Action Network for International Educators) is a grassroots initiative formed by international education practitioners from around the world who recognize the importance of stepping up and taking action on climate change. The CANIE Accord is designed to strengthen and accelerate the international education sector’s response to the global climate crisis.

11th ANNUAL NATIONAL COMMUNITY COLLEGE PEACE BUILDING SEMINAR

The 11th Annual National Community College Peacebuilding Seminar will soon be announced. The seminar is the only faculty seminar based in Washington, DC that addresses issues of peace, conflict resolution, war, security, diplomacy, social justice, human rights, and international affairs designed specifically for community college professionals.

CCIE STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN COMMUNITY COLLEGE GLOBAL AFFAIRS FELLOWSHIP

Three California community colleges students from American River College, Foothill College, and Riverside College were accepted to participate in the Community College Global Affairs Fellowship (CCGAF) in Washington, DC in Summer 2023 from May 30 – August 16. These finalists were among 30 fellows chosen out of over 140 exemplary applicants. CCGAF is a fully paid summer enrichment and mentorship program that seeks to expand access to global education opportunities and international affairs careers.

CCIE INSTITUTIONAL GRANT AWARDEE 2022: MiraCosta College: FINAL REPORT Co-Curricular Virtual International Exchange Program: Umoja-ESCO-IGES Burkina Faso

MiraCosta College is the recipient of the 2022 CCIE Institutional Grant. With their funding, they created a Co-curricular Virtual International Exchange: Umoja – ESCO-IGES Burkina Faso.

CCIE INSTITUTIONAL GRANT AWARDEE 2023: Orange Coast College

Orange Coast College proposes to have the Marine Science Department develop a program with three marine science study abroad classes at St. Andrew’s University in Scotland. By creating an abroad program to Scotland, we are supporting OCC’s mission to provide innovative programs and services that support foundational skills and lifelong learning for our students.
