A behind-the-scenes “deconstruction” webinar. We’ll tell the story of the 2025 faculty-led Costa Rica culture program, then work backward to reveal how Study Abroad Association actually built it in conversation with Seton Hill University’s study abroad office.

No study abroad program that is truly unforgettable seems easy to look at: the excursions go off without a hitch, the cultural immersion feels natural, and the students come home transformed. But the story behind it is one of a program deliberately put together, step by step.
In this session, Study Abroad Association will completely take apart our 2025 faculty-led program in Costa Rica. The process will begin where the students do by looking at the story, including the key moments, the culture, and the ‘why’ behind what made this program an impact. From there, we will move backward and show how the program was put together: the partnerships involved, the logistical arrangements, the collaboration among the faculty, and the compromises that shaped every aspect.
With us is the team from Seton Hill University’s study abroad office, who can provide the institutional point of view, that is, what is required to promote, approve, and support a program such as this from the university.
No matter whether you are putting together your own faculty-led program or making improvements to one that already exists, you’ll end up with an honest and genuine insight into what is needed for a program to succeed, not just the flashy highlights.
