ISA Ireland

The next professional development program in Ireland will take place April 20-26, 2023. Information is : https://isaireland.com/professional-development/ and we will be taking early-bird registrations until December 1 2022. The early bird rate is only $950 per person sharing, which included the conference, accommodation, and most evening meals. Partners/friends/faculty colleagues or family, there are fun things for them to do while you are working. No kids under 18, though, sorry!

There is a Writers and Poets trip on October 20-26 that has a few spaces left. This is an extraordinary trip where we have poets like Paula Meehan and Theo Dorgan all to ourselves, and it’s a trip for adults who dabble in a bit of writing or poetry. I tell you about it just in case you are that person, and you are on sabbatical, or you might have colleagues who are retired and getting the creative juices out. I have some spaces, the flights are very reasonable, and I am open to doing a very good deal! Here’s the info https://www.findmyireland.com/poetry-writing.html

In 2023, the online course, ‘Global Perspectives through the Narratives of Ireland’ will be FREE to all Community Colleges in the USA. This is a 16-module online course, created here in Ireland. It can be used as content in existing courses or modelled as a new course. It is a self-paced course, with optional assignments (which we evaluate), and it will internationalize the students and develop their cultural competency. If you haven’t looked at the syllabus already, it’s here, https://interculturalireland.com/p/facultypreview but the best way to explore how it might work for your college is probably to set up a zoom with us. We are happy to do this with you.

We also continue to be a partner for many colleges in Study Abroad. We have had an exceptionally busy year since travel opened up again, and a fantastic year really – it’s just been great to see students here again. Our strategy of working directly with each institution, and integrating Professional Development, the provision of online content, and then providing a customized Study Abroad program for that institution is working really well. Once again, if you are curious to explore any of the above, please contact me and we can have a chat.

I would also like to remind you, for your students, about the Irish Government’s Work Holiday program. This won’t suit everyone, but for students currently in full-time education, or recently graduated, it does provide a unique opportunity to come to Ireland and work, for up to 12 months. Eligibility applies to any US citizen, over the age of 18, who:
a) is currently in full-time (i.e. not part time or online) post-secondary (i.e. post high school) education, inside or outside the US, leading to an Associate’s, Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate degree, or;
b) is currently in full-time (i.e. not part time or online) post-secondary (i.e. post high school) education, inside or outside the US, leading to certificate/diploma leading to a degree described at a) above. Best wishes,
Niamh & John.
