We are about 9 weeks away from this year’s conference, held at the beautiful LA Valley College campus on Saturday, October 21st, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Although 9 weeks might seem like a lot of time, given how quickly the summer flew by, we know that it’s actually right around the corner. Therefore, we are urging anyone who is interested in presenting during one of the 3 break-out sessions to please submit the 2023 CCCFLC Presentation Application quickly. All applications need to be received by September 12th to allow the CCCFLC officers time to review them. Thank you.
Lastly, a quick reminder that this year’s conference will be a little different. Instead of a single keynote speaker, this year we will open with a panel discussion highlighting best practices for asynchronous teaching titled, “The Synchronicity of Teaching Asynchronously.” Included on the panel will be a CCCFLC conference favorite, Solène Alghannam (Mt. SAC), as well as three of our CCCFLC officers, Dana Arazi (Rio Hondo College), Karen Le Cornet (Cypress College) and Adrienne Merlo (Cypress College) and a group of students who have experienced taking an asynchronous class. Afterwards, the same students will participate in a follow-up discussion during the first break-out session. We expect them to offer invaluable insights into being students in asynchronous versus synchronous classes.
May you all have a wonderful fall semester and we hope to see you October 21st!
In the spirit of collaboration and mutual support, for any CCCFLC members who would like to advertise an organization or event related to teaching foreign languages, this area is now designated for sharing such information. Simply email us your links and we will include them in our newsletters. Thank you.
