Dr. Vinicio J. López is the Dean for Academic Affairs at the School of ESL, International Education, and Transitional studies at City College of San Francisco (CCSF).
Previous to CCSF, Dr. López was Dean of Academic Affairs for five years at Coastline Community College. He was also an ESL faculty member and Coordinator at the Santa Ana School of Continuing Education. Dr. López’s experiences in community college education include academic affairs, student services, continuing education, and international education.
Dr. López is a product of the San Diego Community College District, a first generation college student, and English language learner. He feels a connection to current community college students because they share many similarities to his educational and personal journey.
In 2013, he conducted a study where he explored the experiences and career trajectory of California community college leaders in fulfillment of his doctorate in Educational Leadership, Administration and Policy at Pepperdine University. In addition to his dissertation, he conducted a Participatory Action Research study about Basic Skill students and their transition to four year colleges and universities.
